IX th international contest jazz and variety music

“JAZZ-TIME 2023”






International concert jazz and variety music “Jazz-time 2023”it is conducted by the Main Department of Culture of the Minsk Regional Executive Committee, the Soligorsk District Executive Committee with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Belarus and Youth has initiated holding of a contest place of the contest – Soligorsk Children`s Art School.

This contest is called out to favor an esthetic sense of young musicians based on the best examples of jazz and variety music, development of contacts and exchange of experience between the group and their teachers.

The aim of the contest revelation and supporting gifted young musicians, giving them opportunity to perform on professional stage to upgrade their skill level to popularize of jazz and variety music.

Place and Terms: the contest is taking place in Soligorsk Children`s fine arts school , May 11– 13, 2023.

Contest Nomination:

-                     "soloist" (vocalist) - a concertmaster, instrumental band of children or teachers may take part (no use of phonograms);

-                     "soloist" (instrumentalist) – a concertmaster, instrumental band of children or teachers may take part (no use of phonograms);

-                     “Small instrumental band” – duet, trio, quartet (the participation of a concertmaster is impossible);

-                      “Instrumental band” – a group from 5 to 12 people (the participation of 2 concertmasters are possible);

-                     “Orchestra” – a group from 15 people (the participation of 3 concertmasters are possible).


Nomination “Small instrumental band”, “Instrumental band”, “Orchestra” the participation of vocalists is possible.


Contest Participants:


-                     Students of Children`s Art Schools, Music schools;

-                     Student of Gymnasiums, Secondary Schools with profound study of music;

-                     Children`s band from CIS and abroad;

-                     Students of Colleges.


Age groups for nomination "Soloist" (vocalist):


1) Children`s group (up to 10 years including);

2) Middle age group (11 – 13 years old through 13 years old);

3) Youth group (14 – 17 years old through 17 years old);

4) Students of Colleges.


For the participants of the contest in the nomination "Small instrumental band", "Instrumental ensemble", "Orchestra" are defined for two age groups:


1) pupils of children's schools of arts, and students of gymnasiums, secondary schools with music and General aesthetic bias, music studios and youth education centres



2) students of secondary special educational institutions (colleges)


The age of participants is determined at the time of the competition.


Programmer Requirements:


-          "Soloist" (vocalist) nomination – 2 jazz compositions (different in style);

-          “Small instrumental band”, “Instrumental band” nomination2-3 jazz compositions (different in style);

-          “Orchestra” nomination4 - 5 jazz compositions.


Jury of the contest:

The complete list of international Jury will be announced before each contest concert. The members of the Jury are invited by the organizers.

The order of participation`s performing is set by the Organizing Committee.

The winners of the contest will be nominated according to the age group and are going to be awarded with diplomas I, II, III degrees prizes and gifts.

The Jury has the right to award the Grand-Prix, Special diplomas can also be given to teachers and concertmasters.

The Organizing Committee as well as state or social foundations and individuals can set special prizes, gifts and money awards for the winners.

All the winners will taken part in the Gala Concert.


The following is required for taking part in the contest “Jazz-time 2023”

1) 3 copies of the application forms;

2) birth-certificate (copy) excluding members of orchestra;

3) 2 colored photos of the participant of the group (13x18 glossy paper) or a JPEG digital image (width not less than 2000 pixels);

4) 2 copies of a brief reference for an orchestra or a band;

5) The concert repertoire for possible participation in concerts on open stage of the town (for orchestra / band only).

6) Additionally send: full list of the delegation (participants and accompanying persons with passport details )

Please note that incomplete package of documents or documents posted after April 15th 2023will not be considered.


Each participant (except teachers and concertmasters) must pay an admission fee:

-        "Soloist" (vocalist) – 30$ (equivalent in Byelorussian rubles to the official rate of National Bank of  the Republic of Belarus)

-          Band  - 20$ / 1 person (equivalent in Byelorussian rubles to the official rate of National Bank of  the Republic of Belarus)

-          Orchestra  - 10$ / 1 person (equivalent in Byelorussian rubles to the official rate of National Bank of  the Republic of Belarus)


The participants taking part in different nominations will pay one fee (the highest).


Financing


Preparation and carrying out the contest festival awards purchase of necessary musical instruments and equipment are funded by Minsk Regional Executive Committee, Deportment of Ideology, Culture and Youth of Minsk Region, Soligorsk Executive Committee as well as state and social organizations and individuals.

The organizers of the contest offer to participants sound and intensifying equipment, concert grand piano, digital piano, drum set, 20 panels for notes, chairs. If it is required any other sound equipment teachers can specify it in an application form or on contact numbers.

The   Organizing Committee will took rooms for participants in the hotel (hostel) according to the information in the application form.


Participants from Belarus all the expenses travel uses and accommodation are covered by the organization they represent for

Participants from Belarus all the expenses for food (2 meals a day) are covered by the organizers.


Participants from CIS and abroad travel expenses are covered by the organization they represent.

Participants from CIS and abroad 2 meals a day and accommodation are covered by the organizers.
